Removed the screen ads without a problem, but that bricked the Kindle when I tried to alter the “framework-res.apk,” (wallpapers, themes) file. I tried to replace their pictures with my own pictures. After this point, I was getting a RED triangle with an exclamation point and it would only go to the “reboot” menu.
I could choose to “restore” to original settings “erase everything,” but it would only reboot and go to the same reboot menu. Here are the steps I took to un-brick the device: First step, Pray Second step, I ordered a “factory cable” from China on Ebay (5 ft MicroUSB Factory Cable for Amazon Kindle Fire 2 Kindle Fire HD Kindle Fire ). It took a long time to arrive, just over 30 days, but when it came and I plugged it in, it immediately showed up on my “Device Manager” as “tate-pvt-08”.
This was the first sign of progress, but I still needed to get the computer to recognize the device as a “Kindle” (see next step). Third step, I Installed the Kindle USB drivers (called – “KindleFireHDADBDrivers” in order to get the computer (Windows7 64 bit sys) to recognize the device. There is currently very little out there by way of a quick and easy solution. I hope this helps you. I am sharing because I know the frustration involved. Hey, I’ve tried several ROMs on my Kindle Fire which had received a upgrade to 6.3 before I started rooting&flashing it. I recently tried flashing an ICS ROM.
I wiped dalvik and primary cache, installed the rom.zip and gapps.zip and then without doing a “factory reset” I restarted the device. On reboot I saw the Kindle Fire logo and then the ICS ROM’s customer loading animation – and that’s it. It’s been like that – it switches off on a hard-reset(20 second power button press) and on restarting does the same thing again. I tried booting into bootmode 4000 by giving the command before connecting the device but the dos window just reads – my PC does give a beep when I connect the device – but that’s it. Adb doesn’t detect the device either.
I even read somewhere about opening the case(at my own risk) and shorting a particular pin on the IC and then switching it on to boot into recovery. I tried it, however, once shorted, the device doesn’t even switch on when I press the power key.
Even when I release the shorting the device doesn’t switch on, unless I hold the power button down for 20 secs and then try switching it on. But again it gets stuck at the loading animation. I have ordered a “factory usb” cable over ebay from China but shipping is going to take its time.
Is there anyway I can get my device back??
