Dobaer Is it going away or not? I love this application for its simplicity and functionality. Specifically, the ability to take a screen shot of an area of the screen and then hit a key combination to take another shot of THE SAME AREA.
This is a huge timesaver for documentation purposes. Once I have my same-sized screenshots of a specific area, I can annotate them and write the instructions and everything looks nice and clean.
It does become rather sluggish and seems a bit buggy when you have nearly a thousand items in the Evernote notebook that Skitch is attached to, so I would like the abiity to limit the number of items that Skitch displays. Maybe that would speed it up a bit? Dobaer Is it going away or not? I love this application for its simplicity and functionality.

And so was Evernote, at one time. But alas, first Evernote went sour for me when it started up that subscription plan (then relentlessly asked me to embrace it - good god, how many monthly subscriptions do these app developers think we can stand? I'd rather pay more up front.) and then the infection spread to Skitch. Yes, it's still great when it works.
Trouble is, it now crashes or freezes about half the time. I don't know, maybe it's something local to my system.
But I doubt it. The updates just haven't come and maybe they never will. So I've bitten the bullet and shelled out top dollar for Snagit instead.
So far, it seems. But I would have gladly paid, say, $9 or so for a more reliable Skitch update. JackF1212 Alas poor Skitch, I knew ye well. This was one of the great apps. Kveldalf Feature request? “Focus” tool to dim surrounding I use Skitch all the time. My favorite tool is Command+Shift+C to copy and share into another app. I have no idea where to make a feature request as all of the forums on Evernote are, well, for Evernote. I would be cool to have a tool that lets you select a section of a screenshot and dims the area not included in the select.
Kind of like what you see when you use the crop tool except leave the selected area at full color and the non-selected area dimmed. If there’s a better place to make this request, please let us know.
Also, this red—phew. Need to stare at something green now for 5 mins;-). Kveldalf Feature request? “Focus” tool to dim surrounding I use Skitch all the time.

Looking to save some space with those high-res screenshots you took on your Retina machine? Now allows users to chose between 144 DPI and the regular 72 DPI screenshots on those more pixel-dense displays.
The new feature can be toggled via the file type menu at the bottom left of the app's window and doesn't affect the size of files sent to. Those larger screen captures are labeled 'Hi-Res' the moment they're snapped and the software remembers your settings preferences as well. You can start slimming down your image library now, as the update is currently available via iTunes.
